My coaching includes in depth work on balancing our Primary foods – what sustains us beyond our plate, like our career, relationships, exercise, and spirituality.

Today we’re talking about spirituality. You don’t have to be religious to be spiritual; it’s important to get in touch with what spirituality means to you as an individual. Yoga and meditation have always been my spiritual practice, most of the time my mind is running a mile a minute and I really need to tune into my spiritual tools to feel connected, calm and confident.

Spirituality doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming. It can be as simple as taking a hike in the woods or park – it’s all about appreciating the beauty of nature. Perhaps quiet meditation or yoga is your style of spirituality.

Here are a few ways to work your spiritual muscles;

  • Try meditating.
  • Take a yoga class.
  • Read a spiritual self-help book.
  • Be receptive to pain and other uncomfortable emotions.
  • Practice forgiveness.
  • Take a walk in nature.

If nothing else, I encourage you to take 10-15 minutes to find a quiet space, calm your mind, feel your breath, and contemplate. Be present in the moment.

The benefits of spirituality are countless. When you’re in tune with yourself and are able to quiet your mind, you can transform your life. These are five benefits of integrating spirituality into your life:

  • Reduces stress.
  • Supports weight loss.
  • Diminishes anxiety.
  • Improves happiness and reduce’s the risk of depression.
  • Makes you feel like there’s more time in each day.
